The Mediterranean climate favours the cultivation of olive trees with some 95 percent of the olive oil produced in the world coming from this region. Travelling around Italy, hills covered with olive groves are a common sight. The tree produces a rich harvest with the potential to make several litres of oil annually for many hundreds of years. For this reason, olive oil is known as 'Mediterranean liquid gold'.
Olive groves, olive trees, and olive oil are as old as the world, so, unsurprisingly, there are numerous testimonies of their centuries-long presence throughout history. In the Bible, they often symbolise good advice and comfort.
For example, Noah released a dove to check if the water had subsided while he was still in the ark. After some time, the dove returned with an olive leaf in its beak (Genesis 8:11). Subsequently, God promised to never bring a flood again.
Beauty, peace, and comfort are wonderful values that I decided to materialise with the design of a set of wedding rings for Mr. Maciej. The man's ring is sleek, while the lady's depicts a braided, openwork olive branch with leaves and fruit. The whole design was made in 14k yellow gold.
