Due to their rarity, red diamonds are widely known as the most expensive diamonds in the world. Despite decades of research, scientists still cannot clearly identify the source of this colour. The most accepted theory is that during the formation of the diamonds, deformation occurs in the structure of the crystal lattice.
The intense pressure generated during the movement of the kimberlite deposits produces a variety of shades from pink to red. This lends credence to the hypothesis that red diamonds are dark pink crystals with a deeply saturated colour.
Some time ago, I had the pleasure of completing an extraordinary design with red diamonds. At the centre of the composition is a brilliant white diamond. It levitates in four paws, additionally decorated with small diamonds. The main stone is complemented with two exposed settings with red diamonds. The whole piece was made in such a way as to expose the jewels as much as possible. As a result of this careful crafting, the jewels can be admired from all sides. Underneath the setting, I designed ornate openwork ribbons falling onto an inner lace ring, closed by a smooth outer ring. At the bottom, I created hinged butterflies for size adjustment. The whole piece was made in white and rose gold.
