Thrór's Ring

Autor: Piotr Zieliński

The Ring of Thrór was created as the first of seven. It was initially given to King Durin III of Khazad-dûm by Celebrimbor, a master Smith and the last one of the House of Fëanor.

For thousands of years, the ring remained in the House of Durin until it passed into the hands of Thrór, King under the Mountain. Just a year after taking power, he and his people were forced to leave the Grey Mountains. Thrór bravely led the people to Erebor. With this began a period of splendour lasting some 180 years. He then passed the ring on to his son, hoping that he would bring prosperity again. Unfortunately, he was kidnapped, and the ring got lost in the darkness of Mordor.

The custom-cut stone for this project has the pattern of a palace floor.

Its fate was unknown until modern times when a group of cave explorers accidentally discovered it in a clay pot. The ring found its way to a descendant of Thrór, who had it repaired. Several elements were also introduced, indicating the new owner.

The central stone was enhanced with additional cuts alluding to its royal origin. These are associated with the characteristically carved floor of the Erebor fortress courtyard. The original decoration of the rim was enhanced by brilliant diamonds that tightly filled the negative space. In the centre of the rhombus, a ruby was set in the middle of the rim, on either side, symbolising the wealth of a descendant of the family. The ring has been crafted in two-tone 750-karat gold.

Richly decorated sides of the signet ring, made to order, studded with diamonds and rubies.
