Rene's ring

Autor: Piotr Zieliński

René Jules Lalique was a French artist, jeweller, and glass designer, born in 1860. His creativity and exceptional artistic skills contributed to the development and recognition of the art of modern jewellery making at the turn of the 20th century. His work, including unique and delicate glass designs, jewellery, watches, and other artistic objects, gained international fame and influenced the development of the Art Nouveau movement.

In addition to gold and precious stones, Lalique used ivory, enamel, semi-precious stones, and glass. From 1889, he supplied anonymously to the Vever et Boucheron jewellery shop, and in 1890 he set up his own jewellery shop. Among his clients was the actress Sarah Bernhardt. Lalique's art, combining the harmony of nature with modern style, played a vital role in redefining the art of jewellery.

Rene Lalique's innovative techniques, such as connecting glass enamel with precious metals, inspired me to create a unique ring. A 6-carat Morganite is set in the centre. The setting is complemented by a double halo set with smaller gems weighing 2 carats. The sides of the ring are decorated with textured enamel, also in two colours. Rubies are set in the centre of each composition. The whole piece was crafted in yellow 18k gold.
