Tanzanite for this project was bought in a mine found in the legendary Merelani Hills, where the mineral was discovered. Next, the raw material had a long journey to Jaipur in India – todays capital of colour stone cutters. It is there that minerals are made into jewels in brilliant proportions and sent to my studio.
The next step was to select the diamonds and frame all of the stones in yellow gold. The whole process, from drawing to a ready product, took a few dozen weeks – but the final effect exceeded the clients expectations.
