Historical signet ring with a secretary

Autor: Piotr Zieliński

These two buildings are both important elements of the region's cultural heritage. They bear witness to the rich history of Lower Silesia, an area of Poland abundant in architectural monuments. One served defensive and residential functions for the duke and his court while the other served as the seat of the municipal authorities, a meeting place for the town council, and an administrative centre. Crowds of tourists flock to these buildings every year.

The Piast Castle in Legnica is one of the most important castles in the region, and it is associated with the Piast dynasty that ruled Silesia. It has gone through various stages of expansion and reconstruction, particularly during the Gothic and Renaissance periods. In 1264, Legnica was granted city rights and the castle gained further importance. Meanwhile, the town hall in Jelenia Góra, erected in 1749, is still a key administrative building of the city and plays an important role in urban life. Like the Legnica castle, it features several architectural styles from different periods, including Baroque and Classicism.

The historical and architectural significance, as well as the social functions of both locations in Lower Silesia, inspired the creation of a unique ring. The initials of the owner, who is connected to these locations, appear in the centre of the signet ring. The sides of the signet ring are decorated with the town hall and the castle, along with memorable dates. The gold elements contrast with the blackened body of the signet ring, and inside  is a gold sleeve which wraps around the finger. A plate with the initials forms the lid of a locket, holding a secret content known only to the owner.
