Summer is the time of year when flora and fauna exude their beauty. At this time, we see a genuine explosion of green, which, emerging from a cold spring and absorbing the influence of both sun and moisture, goes on to gain a mature, saturated hue. Interestingly, the human eye perceives the spectrum of the colour green most broadly because our eye is most sensitive to this range of electromagnetic radiation, the wavelength of which is 540nm - 600nm.
To the human eye, green is more than just a colour - it is synonymous with life-giving nature. Perceiving green requires relatively little effort, allowing muscles to relax and reducing the optical tension associated with staring at a computer or phone screen for long periods, a common occurrence in today's lifestyles. This colour is a symbol of hope, harmony, freedom, and happiness.
With this magnificent symbolism in mind, I designed a floral ring with green enamel and a superb ruby. The stone alludes to the euphoria that accompanies an adventurous summer holiday. It is balanced by a halo set with black diamonds. The ring is decorated with a floral composition, the negative space of which is filled with transparent green enamel. The whole piece was made in 14k white gold.
