Tiger signet Ring

Autor: Piotr Zieliński

The sun, shining through the trees, falls on the bright orange fur of the creeping tiger, making it appear as if it is glowing. Its coat glistens with black while white patches shine above amber eyes.

When confronting a rival face to face, the tiger growls loudly, emitting angry grunts and intimidating roars. It crosses vast territories in search of prey, with the ability to swim over five kilometres without rest, seemingly attacking from nowhere with lightning speed.

It is no wonder that in many cultures the tiger symbolises strength. The tiger has also been used as the symbol of a drink which has managed to dominate the energy drink market in our country since 2003.

Some time ago, I was asked by a representative of Maspex, the company which owns the Tiger brand, to design a special signet ring. The top part was to depict a tiger's head, while the sides were to feature the company’s logo.

I immediately thought of a design which would emphasise the extraordinary strength of the tiger, reminiscent of a superhero saga. Once the design was approved, I set to work. The top of the signet ring was prepared as a separate piece. The details were soldered on by hand and then covered with enamel, as were the sides of the ring, to showcase selectivity. In order to increase the weight, the ring is solid on the inside, devoid of the typical cut outs found in mass produced rings. The entire piece was made in two highly polished precious metal colours.
