Cobra bracelet

Autor: Piotr Zieliński

There are about 12 species of cobras in the world, and they can be found in many places ranging from Asia, the tropical regions of Africa, through to the Arabian Peninsula. The king cobra, also known as the Indian bongar, is especially feared. It reaches a length of 3 to 5 meters and is the world's largest venomous snake. It likes to stay in dense jungle undergrowth or in marshes where heavy rains fall. Its tarry black tail along with stripes and groups of spots on its shield give this snake a beautiful appearance. The cobra attacks with lightning speed and about one in ten of its bites is fatal.

Bespoke design of a cobra bracelet

The features of this snake inspired the construction of an extremely beautiful car, made in November 1961. The Shelby Cobra convertible was developed by the British company AC Cars and the American racing driver and designer Carroll Shelby. The Cobra was powered by V8 engines with a capacity of 4.2 liters designed by Ford (later 4.7 liters).

Mrs. Margarete, the owner a refurbished Ford version of the Cobra car, asked me to design a unique bracelet signifying both the snake and the supercar. After analyzing many natural and automotive materials, I started drawing. The cobra wraps around the hand as if it was getting ready to attack. To keep the form clean, I did not use a hinge - the bracelet is a bangle. The design is similar to the Shelby Cobra logo, while maintaining its individuality.

The photo session was made possible thanks to Grzegorz Szewczyk, co-owner of the furniture company "Bodzio", who is the owner of one of three Shelby Cobra GT350s in Poland.
