Snow is often a nuisance for busy people who have to move quickly. For many others, it is a joy to behold, creating captivating landscapes with a blanket of white. But, what do we know about individual snowflakes?
People have spent decades researching and photographing snowflakes. Each can comprise up to a hundred delicate ice crystals, which form a multitude of beautiful patterns. The book, Atmosphere states: "The infinite variety of snowflakes is well known, and so far no two have been found alike, although scientists maintain that no law of nature precludes this. An impressive study was carried out, for example, by (...) Wilson A. Bentley, who spent more than 40 years analysing and photographing snowflakes through a microscope and never found two identical ones."
The structure of snowflakes inspired the design of a winter ring. It consists of individual engraved snowflakes and ice crystals. A princess-cut sapphire has been set in each of them. The whole piece was made in 14k white gold.
