Andromeda ring

Autor: Piotr Zieliński

Andromeda is a spiral galaxy located about 2.5 million light-years from Earth. It is named after one of its constellations, Andromeda, which was first spotted by humans as a cloud-like object in the sky.

The first time this galaxy was accurately analysed was in 964 by the Persian astronomer Abd Al-Rahman Al Sufi.  In 1885, a supernova explosion was observed in the Andromeda galaxy. Two years later, Isaac Roberts took the first photographs that showed its spiral structure. Today, the Andromeda galaxy plays a significant role in the studies of other galactic formations, the nature of stars, and the universe as a whole.

Luxury ring with sapphires and diamonds

The spiral shape of the galaxy inspired the design of a unique ring. A sapphire weighing 1.50ct is set in its central point. It is surrounded by a halo of smaller diamonds and sapphires symbolising heavenly bodies. These are set in white palladium gold using the pavé technique. Falling comets in the form of yellow diamonds form the top of the ring. The ring can be placed on a dressing table or in a display case due to the shape of the bottom of the ring, which was specifically designed for this purpose. The whole piece was made in 14k white gold.
